This ability is 1 of 5 "Call Pet" abilities that Hunters can learn. Notes about this particular spell:

  • Has nothing to do with the pets in your Stable.

  • Summons the pet in the first slot of your "Call Pet" ability list, making it your active pet.

Additional Notes:

  • You will learn the following spells as you level:
        Call Pet 1 lvl 1
        Call Pet 2 lvl 18
        Call Pet 3 lvl 42
        Call Pet 4 lvl 62
        Call Pet 5 lvl 82

  • You can add pets to "Call Pet" ability list by either:
        a) taming additional pets via Tame Beast.
        b) visiting any <Stable Master> and dragging stabled pets to your "Call Pet" ability list.

  • You can switch between the pets in your "Call Pet" ability list with Dismiss Pet, then select a different pet in the "Call Pet" ability drop down menu.

  • Using any of these spells will NOT summon more than one pet at a time.

  • If the lvl 87 ability, [spell=121818], is used:
        a) all 5 pets in your "Call Pet" ability list will be summoned at once.
        b) if you do not have 5 pets already in your "Call Pet" ability list, copies of your active pet will be summoned instead. source
        c) only your active pet will use its Special Attack Ability, the other 4 will use auto attack. source
        d) *NEEDS CONFIRMATION* It appears all 5 pets might apply their respective buffs when summoned (sources/speculation below):
                • All 5 pets will use their Growl ability unless you turn them off. source

                • A post by Bullskit.
                • A post by TallMidget.
                • "Special abilities cannot be activated during stampede for the exception of Roar of Sacrifice plus Spirit Mend (from what I
tested)." a post by Kijo source.

Sometimes your pet is dead and not there at the same time. This means you can't just put both spells after eachother in the same macro, because you won't know which it is.

Put this in a macro, attached to a commonly used spell, like Cobra Shot:

/castsequence [nopet] reset=3 Call Pet 1, Revive Pet
/cast [@pet,dead,exists] Revive Pet
/cast Cobra Shot
/startattack

Just set Call Pet 1-5 to whichever slot your main pet is in.
It will try to call your pet if you don't have one. If nothing happens, click again and it will revive. If your pet is there, it will just revive normally. Then after that, just continue with Cobra Shot.

You can also try the addon 'Growler'. It has a lot of pet handling functionality like Call / Revive Pet, Growl autocast off in group, stables browser and a lot more.
