The avatar behaves much as our Legion combat followers did.
1) The buff persists through death.
2) The avatar cannot be controlled, dismissed, or canceled. It is not a pet.
3) If the avatar dies it will respawn after about 10 seconds whether in or out of combat.
4) The buff timer pauses while logged out.
5) Summoning a different avatar will replace your current avatar and restart the 4-hour buff timer.
6) Entering some instances using group finder will cause your blood contract to disappear. This is a major pain in the butt and hopefully will be hotfixed.
7) Attempting to refresh your current avatar by creating another contract with the same avatar will NOT restart the buff timer. You will waste the contract. You must wait until the buff timer expires before resummoning. This may be a bug but is accurate as of April 14, 2019. Right now the only way to refresh your current avatar is to summon a different one and then resummon your original. However, I believe that is a gross waste of resources.Once you summon your avatar you are stuck with it through thick and thin. Right now there is no way that I know of to get rid of it, so be ready to adopt a new best friend. My personal choice is [item=156638] because it can do 10k DPS on its own. I'm not sure if that damage is scaled with item level, but it's pretty significant since it's twice the amount of damage I do as a poorly geared tank.

• Melee otherwise.
The bloodshed avatar is almost OP for leveling in Shadowlands. Absolutely destroys enemies with the leap attack.
Not sure how effective it will be at level 60.
That is every comment on this page.
