My first thought was a potential homage to the Luggage from Terry Pratchett's Discworld.
The Creepy Crate will have three different animations of mysterious monsters peaking out; one is an eyeball from an old god, one is a pair of red glowing eyes, and the third is a pink tongue. It rattles and rustles.
It's from a Hallow's Eve quest.
