Well, call me a fool but I had some money to spare and decided to give this thing a try on my Red Sword of Courage, seeing as how Blizzard hadn't given a specific tank enchant on weapons in Wrath, merely AP. I'm a prot paladin.
What can I say. Don't waste your money. It barely procs more than Battlemaster it seems. Sure, it procs, but it seems to return about 5-10% the amount of health that a judgement of light returns, if that. It has a miserable procrate for such a low heal. Maybe if it was 400-500 health healed it might be worth it.
As it is, I cannot see this being of any use for a threat enchant, a defensive enchant, or even a grinding enchant. if someone else can prove me wrong and provide me with good numbers, all well and good. As it stands though, this thing isnt even worth the price of a dream shard, let alone 4 abyss crystals. Back to good old horrible green glowing 20 Strength then...

The more i read the protests and the math involved, the more I think that sometimes people theory craft too much, and forget the game aspect of warcraft.
Even when it cost Abyss Crystals i LOVED this enchant. To me it was well worth the money, and here's why it might be worth the money to you (especially at the reduced mats cost).
It procs of multi target hits with NO internal cooldown.
I found this out on my druid with swipe and it was amazing.
If it has a 10% chance to proc (taking the numbers from the people above us) from any hit, and swipe now hit 3 (4 if glyphed) targets, the chances of it healing you are multiplied by 3 (or 4 if glyphed).I AoE levelled of this bad boy and never had to eat/heal/potion/savage defence. Infact, i gave up looting the mammoths in Borean. Charge > swipe swipe swipe next group. My health never dipped below 90% and my gear was shocking (random tbc greens).
Frankly, it made the whole thing so much fun, and for me the FUN was worth the gold.
True, if you're a raider, you can probably find something better, or a tank or something, but all i know is that i've since put this on my alt paladin and it's providing WAY more healing than the above posters suggest ( can proc of all hits of hammer of justice - 4 targets - and i have reckonning ).
I mean, who here has not been in a PuG when you just didn't get that heal? or the healer D/C'd, or or the healer only heals the tank, or you get a lag spike and take more dmg than you wanted or.... (insert random experience where you take unexpected damage). Maybe it's me, but i would rather stay alive and have fun, than die and think "this repair bill is still cheaper than the 400g some nub on wowhead says it costs".
To those who aren't min/maxers or hardcore raiders, i'd really recommend this enchant. It's fun, it keeps you alive, and it's different :)
hey guys,
(first: english isn't my first language)
after i wiped ten times at moroes in kara and then finaly kill him with only 1k hp left, i needed something for better survivability (druid feral tank)
now i have this enchant on my staff and made some tests on a training dummy and have here the result from recount and my brain =>.3.1.1 / 11th may 2009
first i made 5 min auto attack in cat form (attack speed : 1) = 300 white hits.
i get 16 lifeward heals for ~332 = 5476 healthen in bear form (attackspeed : 2.5) i made again 5 min auto attacks = 120 white hits
i get 18 lifeward proccs for again ~ 337 = 6209 healshould be the same.
so you see the heal isn't % of you max life (cat:24k, bear:30K) and your attackspeed doesn't matter: 3.4 ppm (proccs per minute)
the heal is ~335 and it crits around 500, the chance to crit isn't my spell or melee crit chance, it's around 3%.then i made 5 min cat attacks to an training dummy: 300 white hits AND 100 mangle hits.
20 lifeward proccs ~ 7000 healso you see that lifeward proccs on styles, too. (i come to swipe soon)
i tested also 5 min, when i am only renewing the rake and rip bleed dot and auto white attacks. i get only 16 proccs (like at the time i made only auto attacks).
lifeward doesn't procc on dot ticksnow the best thing:
i were standing in the middle of the 4 training dummy in orgrimmar and swiped in bear form. i spamed swipe (nearly every gcd <1.5 sec>) (always full mana because of "primal fury" talent)
5 min = 120 white hits and 175 swipes (700 swipe hits)
lifeward procced 109 times for 36,610 heal. sometimes i see the green number 3 times at the same time on my screen.
36k+ heal in 5 min on 4 targetsif you go solo in the old raids or instances like me, you will love 30k+ life in 5 min against 4 targets, with 10 targets or more you will always be at 100% hp i guess =)
5 min with 120 hits ~ 17 proccs
so 109 - 17 proccs came from swipe
700 hits = 92 proccs
7.6 hits = 1 procc
13% procc chancesum up:
~335 heal, ~500 crit (3%)
with your white attacks you have 3.4 ppm
your style hits have a chance of 13% to procc lifeward
dot ticks doesn't let lifeward procc.i hope i didn't make any mistakes in the calculation, let me know
my english has maybe a lot of mistakes, but i am german.
good luck at solo runs.
