The recipe isn't too bad considering the blue quality red and greens gems have almost no use, save for making expensive jewelry and staffs that are only 290-310 ilvl (i haven't had much luck selling them :/).
The only real hard part is getting all that expulsom! 30 is pretty steep, but getting a couple gems every few missions is pretty nice, and it eventually pays for itself. Just do a few world quests that reward loot or run a few dungeons and you'll have the required expolsom within 2 or 3 days.
