I felt the same way, untill I hit lvl 10, it became quite powerfull then (except when it misses 100000x in a row). Mana Surge destroys everything.

Its rare but i have it at level 6 now and its the weekest rare i have EVER seen from my pets.
Clearly completly undertuned (at least at low levels)...
