After some testing on Beta, it seems you're able to go from 1-100 in Midnight cooking exclusively from this recipe that uses vendor bought mats.
This recipe goes gray at 35 cooking, but you unlock the Hearty Foods recipe at that level, you're able to craft 5 Spiced Biscuits into 1 Hearty Spiced Biscuit, and the hearty foods recipe stays at least green until 100.
EDIT: This has been slightly nerfed. This now goes gray at 25 cooking. Buy some plant protein or practically pork to make something else to go from 25-35.
...you can still go 35-100 entirely off of Hearty Spiced Biscuits.
EDIT 2: The recipes now properly take your cooking skill into account instead of randomly giving you between 1 to however many servings the recipe indicates (as it was on day one of early access). If you're crafting your own spiced biscuits or other food to level your cooking to 100, be sure to stop occasionally to make them into their Hearty version and get some extra skill under your belt in the hopes you hit a breakpoint and get an extra serving per cast.

I was getting 1-5~ or something but after today, I've been getting like 1 only even though tooltip says 4. That goes for bloom Skewers too as per my tests. after skill 35 I was getting 1-2 but tooltip skill shows (recipe for 4 servings). EDIT: hit skill 100 and i'm now getting 4x 100% chance
RE: always getting 1 with low skill -- that's because the recipe's yield is based on your cooking skill. On day one of early access, it wasn't and would randomly give 1 to however many servings the recipe indicated, regardless of cooking skill.
