You will not get this achievement if you purchase the pets from the AH (under the battle pets). I was short only Peanut and purchased him last night and did not receive this. I summoned him and even fought with him and nothing. Do not waste the gold if the achieve is the only reason you are buying it.

"Purchasing a player sold battle pet of any of these doesn't count for the achievement. The achievement requires obtaining the item that teaches each pet. i.e. Elekk Training Collar vs Peanut (item vs battle pet)"

People need to stop downranking the above comment. Trying to mislead people by letting them believe that they can get the achievement from purchasing the battle-pet version of these pets is very dishonest. Wowhead is a place to share information that is accurate, not a way to scam or mislead the community.

Yes there are two separate quest chains for Children's Week that reward pets upon completion. One starts in Lower City of Shattrath and the other starts in Stormwind, in Cathedral Square. However doing both quest chains will not reward two separate pets for this achievement.

The quest chain that starts in Shattrath City, (Lower City), can be found by talking with Orphan Matron Mercy.
The quest chain that starts in Stormwind, (Cathedral Square), can be found by talking with Orphan Matron Nightingale.

Both of these quest chains will start with you talking to the respective acquired orphan. Also keep in mind that each Matron will give you a separate orphan whistle. The one in Shattrath will give you a Draenei Orphan Whistle and the one in Stormwind will give you a Human Orphan Whistle.Then the orphan will give you three quests to go visit three separate locations. After you complete the three, the orphan will then give you two more quests. The chain that starts in Shattrath will require one more visiting location and a toy. The chain that starts in Stormwind will require another visit and some ice cream. After you complete these two quests you will be asked to return the orphan to their respective Matrons.

As far as obtaining the pets go, I completed the quest chain in Shattrath first. My reward choices were one of the three pets required for this achievement:

1. Elekk Training Collar: "Peanut"
2. Sleepy Willy: "Willy"
3. Egbert's Egg: "Egbert"

I then went to complete the quest chain that starts in Stormwind and instead of offering me a 2nd pet for the achievement, here is was I was offered:

1. Piglet's Collar
2. Rat Cage
3. Turtle Box
4. Curmudgeon's Payoff

Although the description of Curmudgeon's Payoff was comical, I chose the Turtle Box personally.

So as far as being able to obtain two pets for this achievement in one Season, it isn't possible. You will have to wait for three separate seasons. Good luck hunting and don't forget to load your orphan up on sugar before returning it to the Matron!
