Eric Davidson

He is located near the very center of the large Raven Hill Cemetery in Duskwood just north of the Flight Master. (19.9, 44.2) He walks in circles around the statue located there. He battled with three spiders all level 7 "beasts". The first was a Blackfang with 443hp, the second a Webwinder with 443hp and the third a Darkwidow with 443hp. During the battle he said "No matter. A single life for a victory is well worth the sacrifice."

*Edit: It seems he no longer walks in circles, but remains standing in front of the statue.

Webwinder, Blackfang, and Darkwidow are all level 7 spiders. They are of the "Beast" family

I have been trying to challenge him for a while. When I talk to him I just get his generic message
"Are you afraid of spiders? Some feel them crawling on their skin as they wander through the endless woods."
But there is no option to challenge him. I have abandoned the quest multiple times, and went to Lindsey in Redridge to pick it back up. I've tried reloading my UI, and logging out and back in.

Hope this helps someone and lets them know they aren't alone in the frustration!

Update: After speaking with a GM today, she removed my quest from my log for me, and put it back in because it hadn't worked for me the times that I had tried it this morning. When I logged back into the character, I was able to battle him. Apparently it is a common issue currently! But generally logging out and back in tends to work.
