I was delighted when I found him and discovered I could pet him, even though I didn't realize who he was at first (and then when I did, ow, my heart). Fortunately, if you're like me and get attached to animals easily, you don't have to worry about his safety; he stays behind in the Garrison when you leave.
Just noticed he's gone from my garrison!
Turns out he had moved into the menagerie... :)
