As of Patch 2.3 you don't need 12 Thorium anymore to craft this, definitely the easiest way to skill Engineering to 375. Fel Iron is so much easier to get.

New Mats:

  • Thorium Bars x 12

  • Adamantite Bars x 8

  • Primal Earths x 2

  • Fel Iron Bars x 13

Greens follow a different leveling scheme than blues, and blues different than purples. A level 110 purple is much better than a 110 blue, while that blue is also much better than a 110 green. Not wowhead.com's design. http://www.wowwiki.com/Item_level

The only problem with leveling up with these is that many people do it, which floods the AH so badly that they don't sell unless you undercut by a large amount. Currently on my server there are over 20 and I haven't started making mine yet.

The main downside to this gun is that it's so quickly replaced that you can't hardly sell it!
The matts needed to make it are more than what you'll be selling it for.
On the other side, however, you can pick one up cheaply on the AH if you're looking for one.

Much better way to level up is the Repair Bot 110g. compairing: Adamantite Rifle: Adamantite Bars x 8 ~16g Primal Earths x 2 ~10g Fel Iron Bolts x4 = 2g vendor Yields: disenchant +- 5g average total loss = ~25g per attempt (green at 370) vs Adamantite Bars x 8 ~16g Khorium Power Core x1 Khorium Bar x3 ~10g Primal Fire x1 ~20g Fel Iron Bolts x8 =4g from vendors Yields: either a very useful raiding tool, or about POSITIVE 25 gold from AH--- yeah make money selling them. Also, repair bot is red until 370 and then yellow, so you are very likely to skill up

My $0.02 on Luciferhawke's #2: Khorium Ore may be harder to come by, but on my server, stacks or Khorium Bars are selling for 80g-90g, which is pretty darn cheap. Much easier to sell 3 or 4 stacks of Adamantite Ore and buy 1 stack of Khorium Bars then to farm them yourself.

I'll do the same thing with these that I do with all the greens I'm getting from the Shattered Suns daily quests, which is disenchant them. My Tailor needs a steady supply of Arcane Dust these days, so it works out well for me. Besides, it wouldn't be the first time I took a hit to get a skill bump.

This is a very good rifle for a level 69 rogue. if you want to stay 69 to farm the bg's for a bit, yet you enjoy going to redridge and executing gnomes with your gun, this has some high top end damage to aid in one shotting.
