I wouldn't go so far as to say for shame. Merely saying something is rimed means that is it covered as if with frost or ice. Objects can be rimed without being encrusted in ice the same way objects can be frosted without being encrusted with frost. Sure, "Frost-Rimed Cloth Hat" isn't as... accurate as "Rimed Cloth Hat," but it's still correct, and it's also easier for idiots to understand.
