Jormungar Scale

The best place I know for this is the Hibernal Cave in Storm Peaks. If you are low level you can try the cave on north Dragonblight.

The Roaming Jormungar in Storm Peaks have ~25% drop, I just got 12 in 50 kills.

This, Nerubian Chitin and Icy Dragonscale are the equivalents of the Clefthoof and similar leather from BC.

Arctic Fur is the real expensive and rare drop.

Actually they're named after one of the children of Loki, (who Blizz call Loken in WoW), that was called Jörmungandr, which is a snake.

There are 2 main caves to farm these scales. The first is the cave at The Crystal Vice, which is located in a crevasse just west of the very north end of the Path of the Titans in northern Dragonblight. The cave entrance is at coordinates (57.0, 12.0). There are Ice Heart Jormungar Feeders and their children, Ice Heart Jormungar Spawn patrolling the cave and the path outside leading to it. These are level 72 worms and are pretty easy to kill as a lvl 77 rogue, especially the little ones. Just watch out for the boss worm at the back of the cave. One pass through the cave and I collected 5 Jormungar Scales. That includes 2 that dropped when I skinned a couple worm corpses left behind by someone else.

The second cave is the Hibernal Cavern, which is located in the west wall of the Valley of Ancient Winters in centralish Storm Peaks. The cave entrance is located at coordinates (56.0, 64.0). Inside this cave you will find level 79 Ravenous Jormungar sharing breathing air with Icemaw Bears. In a comparable time period here I collected 6 Jormungar Scales. Because these worms are level 79 and the fact you have to deal with the occasional bears, I found it much easier (at my level) to farm the scales at the first cave at The Crystal Vice. The first cave is located much closer to Dalaran than the second cave, which is also a plus.

Since farming can be so random, I decided to go back to The Crystal Vice cave and do another full clear run. This time I put a stopwatch on it and it took just over 20 minutes to clear the cave all the way to the back and then again all the way back out to the front. I collected 8 more Jormungar Scales. So overall, in about one hour of farming, I ended up with 19 of the Jormungar Scales, along with plenty of Borean Leather, Borean Leather Scraps, Worm Meat and Chilled Meat, several greens and even a blue, which dropped regularly off all the worms in both caves. I did this as a regularly questing geared lvl 77 rogue with the skinning and leatherworking professions. I got to craft myself a set of Jormungar Leg Armor out of it! If I decide to farm any more of these scales, I will definitely go back to the The Crystal Vice cave, at least until I gain a few more levels.

Note: An hour after posting this, I decided to run The Crystal Vice cave one last time. This last run took more like 25 minutes, and I got 6 more Jormungar Scales. Three runs through The Crystal Vice cave netted me a total of 19 Jormungar Scales. Not too bad, I figure.
