Plans: Helm of the Great Chief

This is one of the EXTREMELY rare to find BoE world drop plans. Do not let those go cheap! 4k should be fairly respectable price. Because, let's be frank.. there are a lot of people who are fairly serious about completing all possible plans/schematics/recipes they can.

Had one pop up for 11g today. Needless to say I snapped it up before you could blink! ^_^

After the Shattering, this is so much more rare. Three out of four mobs that drop this are gone now, I believe Nefarion is the only one now, correct me if I'm wrong.

These plans just dropped in an Eternium Lockbox in Hellfire Citadel off a trash mob.

Confirmed. Just got these plans from an [item=5760] as well.

I completely agree. It took me almost a year religiously searching the AH multiple times per day to finally come across these plans. I paid 750g in a heartbeat, and would have happily paid several thousand gold. Ignore the 60g buyout price on these! If you find this, especially now in post-Cataclysm, you have a very rare find indeed.

Out of all of those old-timers, the only one still around post-Cataclysm is Nefarian in BWL. Onyxia's loot was retuned in WotLK, so it's doubtful she still drops these plans. As Slyvenk said below, these plans suddenly became a whole lot more rare.

I picked this up in the Molten Core yesterday. I believe it was from a [npc=11667]

Correct, still drops or it might have been a Lava Surger. I cannot besure since I mass looted a bunch of mobs.

Just had this drop for me in Molten Core today 11/13/2011 from a [url=http://www.wowhead.com/npc=11668]Firelord[/url]. It dropped right near the beginning of the instance after you cross the bridge and start to head down toward the Core Hounds. This appears to be extremely rare... only 3 available across all servers and factions according to The Undermine Journal.

Loot bragging is hardly a useful post.

Loot bragging isn't useful, however, the fact that it is still dropping (plus the mob it dropped from) and it is still incredibly rare IS very useful information. Posts like his prevent folks from popping it on AH for 50g buyout without really thinking about it.

I scan the auction house really regularly, and auctioneer collects statistics on how often it sees items. This is among the most rare items I have seen. Over the last four years (since I last reset my data), I've seen this pattern only 11 times, including the one I just bought. Of course I don't see the ones that are kept rather than sold, or the ones that are posted and snatched up before I have a chance to see them, but that's true for most items. At this point it drops extremely rarely from places people don't go anymore, so if you're looking on the auction house, it's crazy rare.

You didn't happen to mention how much you paid...

I bought this recipe today off the auction house on area 52 server horde side...I've never seen this prior on the auction house...I probaly spent to much on it (10K)...likely the seller would have lowered his price...but im at 93.60% completed for all my blacksmithing recipes...need 34 more. I do think alot of these patterns are obviously for collectors only...even if your a collector...I would try to bargain with the seller to see if you can get the price lowered.

At last, found it today in the AH for 2000G :)

I had this drop off of Nefarion on my weekly BWL run. I actually didn;t know it was rare, and put it up for 5k as a laugh. (You wouldn't believe some of the bizarre prices on my server for weird items.) 2 days later, it sold. Needless to say I was surprised, so I came here to check it out, and lo and behold, it is a rare plan. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for old plans from now on, because you just never know.

Bought this yesterday on Aerie Peak Alliance side for 10,000 gold. There was another on there for 20,000 gold. I could have bartered with the sellers, but neither of them were online and I didn't want to risk losing both of them!

Actually it dropped of trash in Ahn' Qiraj today ;)

Confirmed still drops in "The Comb" in AQ, dropped for me today.

These plans dropped off of Moam in Ruins of AQ for me once.

Now I've also had this drop in AQ 40 as well as from Moam in Ruins of AQ
