TheWoWDBI noticed they added this in The War Within, patch 11.2, very early in the goblin area.
Essentially, they ask you if you'd rather pose on a magazine with Candy Cane or Chip Endale. Later on, whoever you picked will end up offering you the quest Off to the Bank.
Then, on Kezan, you'll be offered whichever gendered quest you chose;The Fastest Way to His Heart / What Kind of Name is Chip, Anyway? and She Loves Me, She Loves Me NOT! / What Kind of Name is Candy, Anyway?
These are the only things this choice will affect, you won't get different rewards from going one route or the other.Spoiler
I appreciate being offered to pick, but no matter which way you swing, they end up getting together and stabbing you in the back... A true Goblin love story.

The original Kezan quests gave your character a girlfriend, Candy Cane (if you were a male goblin) or boyfriend Chip Endale (if you were a female goblin). Now you have a choice and it's clarified that the "relationship" is just for optics.
It's still strange that you end up murdering both Candy and Chip later in the Lost Isles simply because... they sided with Gallywix. In literally the next quest after that, you (and Thrall) suddenly forgive Gallywix and allow him to run the Bilgewater Cartel. So did we really need to murder Candy and Chip? That part is still weird.
I mean, they didn't just side with Gallywix, they were on your side and betrayed you. Killing them is still a bit extreme to normal people, but I love it as fickle, overblown goblin drama lol. I do agree it was more fitting (and more fun) when one was your actual ex and the other was the one that stole them. Gallywix being forgiven and handed leadership of the cartel always felt way more forced and weird to me, and I still imagine my goblin giving Thrall a funny look at the end of that quest lol.

We've got two focus group approved goblins over there ready to go, so go take your pick. Sassy will handle the paperwork. Oh, don't give me that look. You only gotta forever-love each other in front of the public. Once the cameras are off, no one cares. It'll be great for your reputation!
