If anyone is wondering how to actually DO the quest, you just have to get close enough to the sprites riding the bears and slap them off by right-clicking. I had a lot of trouble seeing the hand cursor because they were moving around so much and it took a few minutes to figure out.
They can still be a bit hard to catch so I ended up making a target macro (/tar bloodspike), then spammed the interact hot key (usually backtick `).
