To catch the Stygia, run around and stand on the swirlies when they hit the ground. Sometimes the swirls are randomly spread around the quest area, sometimes they line up and you can just step forward a little bit at a time to catch a lot.
Just had the event despawn on me while I only got to 25/30. I checked the other 2 locations and it wasn't there. Went back to where it was previously available and it was up again.
