Upon acceptance:

Archmage Khadgar says: She doesn't want me going with you. But, I can help by magically projecting myself.
Cordana Felsong says: You're right, you're not going out there!

Companion quest - Cleaning Up Gul'var.

While you're out collecting soul shards, you'll have to, naturally, kill everything that gets in your way. None of them are happy to see you and they let you know! Hagra seems to be the only one that says anything when you fight her.

Fel Mistress Hagra says: You're too late, <Name>. The Shadow Council ascends!
Grogal the Harvester says: I will consume your soul!
Shadow Warrior says: Destroy the <class>!
Gul'var Peon says: Lok-Narash!
Shadow Warrior says: No prisoners!
Lesser Warlock says: The Council's will be done!
Gul'var Peon says: Someone warn the master!
Gul'var Grunt says: Stop the intruder!
Gul'var Peon says: Look out. Invaders!

Kurgoth is apparently one of those strong, silent types because doing the quest on three different toons yielded no comment from him. /shrug

The orcs chained to some of the boulders are hoping you end their misery:

Lesser Warlock says: ...kill...me.

Right before you turn in the quest, you can hover over each of the soul shards for flavor text:

Hagra's Shard - "Touching the shard gives you the feeling that your soul is being covered by something oily and foul."

Grogal's Shard - "The fel taint within resonates as if something is trying to escape."

Kurgoth's Shard - "Radiates pure evil, slowly corrupting anything it touches."

Next quest - Heart On Fire.

Description

It's good to know what Teron'gor and Cho'gall are up to. It's more important that we stop Gul'dan. Some of his disciples can summon minor demons. To do this, these lesser warlocks must use a soul shard. The foul crystal creates a connection to the Twisting Nether, pulling a demon through against its will. Gul'dan's as much demon as he is orc. If we can gather some of the more potent shards, we can combine them into something that just might capture him.

Pins are the quest’s own POI points from the current retail client, projected onto the in-game zone map. The game marks one blob as the quest’s turn-in; the rest are objective areas. Points that fall outside a map’s window are dropped rather than guessed at.

Before this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • Ominous PortentsShadowmoon Valley · Level 10-40

Now that Priestess Moonfang has created the blessed water, it is time to deal with the demon. Take the water and the scripture of Elune. Through the power of each, you will compel the demon to show us what the orcs are up to at Gul'var.

After this quest

Taken from the storyline's own step order.

  • Heart On FireShadowmoon Valley · Level 10-40

We have the shards, but now they must be combined. There's a forge here, but even its fires aren't hot enough for our purposes. However, there is a demon nearby that burns hot as the sun. Gul'dan, or perhaps Razuun, has managed to summon an infernal.
