Crafting estimate at current listings
No real market: too few listings for this price to mean anything yet.
- Reagent cost (lowest listed)
- 281 gold32 silver
- Crafted item, lowest listed price
- 25 gold51 silver
- Auction House cut (5%)
- 1 gold27 silver
- Estimated profit at that listed price
- −257 gold8 silver
No real market: only 4 units across 1 auction region-wide. With this little supply the lowest listing is one asking price rather than a market rate, so treat the estimate above as arithmetic, not an opportunity; a buyer at that price is not established.
- Evidence: 1 current listing holding 4 units of the crafted item in the US region. We see listings, not sales, so how many sell and at what price is unknown.
- Quality: Contract: Dragonscale Expedition comes in 3 quality ranks. This is the base comparison, rank 1 reagents against the rank 1 result; your skill and the reagents’ ranks decide the rank you actually get, which this estimate does not model. Each rank’s lowest listing is in the rank table below.
- Not included: the recipe also accepts 2 finishing reagent slots, which are not required and are left out of the cost.

Contract: Dragonscale Expedition quality ranks
Contract: Dragonscale Expedition comes in 3 quality ranks, and each rank is its own item on the Auction House. The recipe’s base crafting difficulty is 300.
| Rank | Item | Lowest listed price | Listings (US) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rank 1 | Contract: Dragonscale Expedition | 25 gold51 silver | 1 listing, 4 units |
| Rank 2 | Contract: Dragonscale Expedition | 7 gold77 silver | 9 listings, 150 units |
| Rank 3 | Contract: Dragonscale Expedition | … | no current listing |
The crafting estimate above is the base comparison: rank 1 reagents against the rank 1 result. Your skill and the reagents’ ranks decide which rank a craft actually makes, so a higher rank is never priced against rank 1 reagents here. Right now rank 1 lists above rank 2, so a craft that comes out at a higher rank is worth less at today’s listings, not more.

Reading these numbers
At current lowest listed prices the 3 reagents for one craft of Contract: Dragonscale Expedition cost 281 gold32 silver. Most of that is Chilled Rune - 1 at 257 gold91 silver each, 257 gold91 silver, 91.7% of the whole basket. Watch that one price and you have watched most of this recipe.
Break-even is 296 gold12 silver - below that listed price the craft loses gold once Blizzard’s 5% cut is taken. The crafted item’s lowest listed price is 25 gold51 silver, which does not clear it.
The crafted item currently lists for less than its reagents cost: −255 gold81 silver before fees, and the Auction House would still take 1 gold27 silver of a sale, so a craft loses 257 gold8 silver at these prices. At current listings, buying the crafted item costs less than making it. That is an estimated -91.4% return on the gold you put into reagents.
Listing depth right now: 4 units across 1 auction region-wide. Depth separates a market price from a single asking figure, but listings are not sales, so read it alongside the estimate.
Costs use each reagent’s lowest listed price; the estimate is the crafted item’s lowest listed price, times the items one craft makes, minus those reagents and Blizzard’s 5% sale cut. Listings are asking prices, not sales. Recalculated every snapshot and left blank rather than guessed when a price is missing. How we estimate crafting profit →
