The crafting estimate above is the base comparison: rank 1 reagents against the rank 1 result. Your skill and the reagents’ ranks decide which rank a craft actually makes, so a higher rank is never priced against rank 1 reagents here. Right now rank 1 lists above rank 2, so a craft that comes out at a higher rank is worth less at today’s listings, not more.

Reading these numbers
At current lowest listed prices the 4 reagents for one craft of Serrated Cogwheel cost 90 gold47 silver. Most of that is Entropy Enhancer - 1 at 41 gold55 silver each, 41 gold55 silver, 45.9% of the whole basket. Watch that one price and you have watched most of this recipe.
Break-even is 95 gold23 silver - below that listed price the craft loses gold once Blizzard’s 5% cut is taken. The crafted item’s lowest listed price is 9 gold99 silver, which does not clear it.
The crafted item currently lists for less than its reagents cost: −80 gold48 silver before fees, and the Auction House would still take 49 silver95 copper of a sale, so a craft loses 80 gold97 silver at these prices. At current listings, buying the crafted item costs less than making it. That is an estimated -89.5% return on the gold you put into reagents.
Listing depth right now: 108 units across 20 auctions region-wide. Depth separates a market price from a single asking figure, but listings are not sales, so read it alongside the estimate.
Costs use each reagent’s lowest listed price; the estimate is the crafted item’s lowest listed price, times the items one craft makes, minus those reagents and Blizzard’s 5% sale cut. Listings are asking prices, not sales. Recalculated every snapshot and left blank rather than guessed when a price is missing. How we estimate crafting profit →
