Shadow Ink quality ranks
Shadow Ink comes in 3 quality ranks, and each rank is its own item on the Auction House. The recipe’s base crafting difficulty is 505.
| Rank | Item | Lowest listed price | Listings (US) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rank 1 | Shadow Ink | 10 gold50 silver | 10 listings, 47 units |
| Rank 2 | Shadow Ink | 5 gold50 silver | 33 listings, 1,705 units |
| Rank 3 | Shadow Ink | 54 gold22 silver | 5 listings, 125 units |
The crafting estimate above is the base comparison: rank 1 reagents against the rank 1 result. Your skill and the reagents’ ranks decide which rank a craft actually makes, so a higher rank is never priced against rank 1 reagents here. Right now rank 1 lists above rank 2, so a craft that comes out at a higher rank is worth less at today’s listings, not more.

Reading these numbers
At current lowest listed prices the 3 reagents for one craft of Shadow Ink cost 11 gold35 silver. Most of that is Orbinid Pigment - 5 at 1 gold15 silver each, 5 gold75 silver, 50.7% of the whole basket. Watch that one price and you have watched most of this recipe.
Break-even is 11 gold94 silver - below that listed price the craft loses gold once Blizzard’s 5% cut is taken. The crafted item’s lowest listed price is 10 gold50 silver, which does not clear it.
The crafted item currently lists for less than its reagents cost: −85 silver before fees, and the Auction House would still take 52 silver50 copper of a sale, so a craft loses 1 gold37 silver at these prices. At current listings, buying the crafted item costs less than making it. That is an estimated -12.1% return on the gold you put into reagents.
Listing depth right now: 47 units across 10 auctions region-wide. Depth separates a market price from a single asking figure, but listings are not sales, so read it alongside the estimate.
Costs use each reagent’s lowest listed price; the estimate is the crafted item’s lowest listed price, times the items one craft makes, minus those reagents and Blizzard’s 5% sale cut. Listings are asking prices, not sales. Recalculated every snapshot and left blank rather than guessed when a price is missing. How we estimate crafting profit →
