While the home location for this spell and your Hearthstone are the same, you do not need the Hearthstone to cast this spell. Once you get this spell, you can reclaim bag space taken up by your totems by placing your Hearthstone in the bank... or better yet, destroying the Hearthstone and saving valuable bank space as well.
With the glyph, hearthstone, and scrolls of recall a shaman with inscription can return to an inn 14 times an hour. You can add in a Dalaran ring for an extra two teleports. If you need to go to an inn more often than that, I'm affraid you'll have to roll a mage.
