This seems an awesome item to create to level skill.. They sell ok too and make your mount faster :):)
Between 235 and 250 this will let you get 15 skill-ups for meager 60 mithril bars and save you 90 or so of those, as the closest item to make is Mithril Coif which takes 10 bars, where spurs only take 4.
The alternative Ghost Iron Bar recipes trainable at this skill level are Training Project: Ghost Iron Saw and Training Project: Ghost Iron Wire. The first is trainable at 231, takes 30 bars and rewards 3 points. The second is trainable at 248, only 1 bar and 1 skill-up. This means that to cover the same range with Ghost Iron Bars, you'd need 150 of those.
So basically, it's a matter of 3 stacks of mithril (plus recipe and 9 stacks of Solid Stone which is usually very cheap) versus 7,5 stacks of ghost iron, either in gold or in your gathering time.
