TheWoWDBThis transmute cannot be trained, instead it is rewarded by the quest Cardinal Ruby, which is available from the Dalaran alchemy trainer Linzy Blackbolt for all alchemist that have an Alchemy skill of 450 . The quest requires you to perform 5 of any epic gem transmutes, effectively giving other sources of epic gems a 5 day head start on Cardinal Ruby creation.

According to several members of my guild epic gem transmutations shares cooldown with titanium transmutation.
