Source is the collection journal’s own source for each appearance, read from the current retail build; bosses, quests, recipes, prices and requirements come from the game’s item, journal and quest records.

This is a complete head-to-toe outfit - it fills 9 armor slots, so it can be worn as a full look with nothing borrowed from another set. Every piece is Bind on Pickup, so the appearances have to be earned rather than bought.

Ensemble: Ered'ruin Scalemail is a single item whose use effect learns all of Ered'ruin Scalemail at once. It is Bind on Pickup.

The game links 2 other versions to Ered'ruin Scalemail, each labelled the way the collection journal labels it. This page is the Normal version.

• Purple Scalemail of Devouring Night - 29 pieces - Hunter, Shaman, Evoker
• Yellow Shrinebreaker's Battlegear - 20 pieces - Hunter, Shaman, Evoker

3 companion sets shipped in the Legion: Assaults group alongside it:

• Normal Vileweave Vestments - 26 pieces - Priest, Mage, Warlock
• Normal Netherfiend Battlegear - 17 pieces - Rogue, Monk, Druid, Demon Hunter
• Gold Xorothian Plate Armor - 16 pieces - Warrior, Paladin, Death Knight

2 pieces share their appearance with items outside this set, each with its own collection source:

• Ered'ruin Shawl uses the same appearance as Ered'ruin Draping Shawl.
• Ered'ruin Shroud uses the same appearance as Ered'ruin Draping Shroud.

2 other sets reuse the 3D models of Ered'ruin Scalemail’s head, shoulder and waist, most shared models first:

• Cruel Combatant's Chain Armor (Legion, 18 pieces): the same head, shoulder and waist models, recoloured.
• Cruel Combatant's Ringmail Armor (Legion, 18 pieces): the same head, shoulder and waist models, recoloured.

Matched in the game files: each piece’s ItemDisplayInfo names its 3D model and texture. The same model with another texture is a recolour. Only pieces with a 3D model of their own (helms, shoulders, cloaks, weapons, shields, off-hands and some belts and robes) can be compared this way; pieces drawn from textures alone are left out.

Sets from the same content batch with the same class restriction.
