WoW Forever Gold Guide: How to Make Gold
Short answer: gather while you level, sell the new Forever materials early, save for riding, and never buy gold. Forever has no realms, so your auction house is everyone on your ruleset and faction, and Blizzard has already closed the first vendor flip.
Written for the World of Warcraft: Forever (Classic Plus) beta and checked on 2026-10-04. Facts from Blizzard are marked with Blizzard sources; things found in the beta and reported by the press are marked as reported. Prices are live beta prices. The game can change before launch on November 4, 2026, and the beta ends October 21. [Blizzard, 2026-09-17]
What is different about gold in Forever
Forever is built on original Classic, so most of what you know still works. These are the changes that matter for gold, each with its source.
- No realms. You choose a ruleset (Normal, PvP, Roleplaying, and Hardcore after launch) instead of a realm. You cannot move a character between rulesets, and on PvP you can only play one faction per account. [Blizzard, 2026-09-12]
- Riding works like The Burning Crusade. Blizzard is "shifting the up-front mount cost into training and granting a mount when players learn the riding skill." The final gold cost has not been announced. [Blizzard, 2026-09-13]
- Dungeon drop appearances are shared. When a bind on pickup uncommon or rare drops in a dungeon, every eligible player gets the appearance. Raid epics only teach the player who gets the item. [Blizzard, 2026-09-13]
- Vendoring an uncollected bind on equip item binds it. Blizzard's note: "When selling to a vendor a BoE item which has an appearance you have not collected, the item will now become soulbound." So you cannot buy it back and mail it to an alt or list it. [Blizzard blue post, 2026-10-01]
- Fewer copper nodes in starter zones, and creatures can only be skinned once. [Blizzard blue post, 2026-10-01]
- No WoW Token. The developers said there are "no plans" for a WoW Token or character boosts. That is an interview answer, not a Blizzard announcement. [MassivelyOP, 2026-09-14]
- No GDKP. Gold bid loot runs are not allowed, the developers said at the September 17 Q&A, and the team is "very actively monitoring the economy". [Icy Veins, 2026-09-18]
- No shared tagging. Mobs and nodes stay first come, first served, according to the developers on social media. [Game Rant, 2026-09-22]
- Buying gold gets punished. Blizzard: accounts "found to have participated in generating, selling, buying, or receiving illicit gold" face gold removal, suspension or permanent closure, and a new warning shows when you take gold from strangers. [Blizzard blue post, 2026-10-01]
How the auction house works without realms
Blizzard confirms there is no realm list: you pick a ruleset, factions stay apart, and you cannot group across rulesets. [Blizzard, 2026-09-12] Coverage of the BlizzCon presentation adds that "each ruleset maintains its own regional Auction House and mailing network". [Nosy Gamer, 2026-09-16] Blizzard has not published that in writing yet, so treat it as reported.
What it means for gold, if it holds: your market is every player on your ruleset, faction and region, not a few thousand people on one realm. Expect more sellers and thinner margins on common materials, and faster sales on anything new.
Not confirmed for Forever: the auction house cut and deposit, a gold cap, mail changes and the region list. Classic numbers are posted around the web as Forever facts; we found no Blizzard source for any of them, so we do not use them here.
What sells on the beta auction house
Lowest buyout per unit for the materials players farm, read live from the newest Alliance and Horde scans in our Forever auction house data. The prices come from player addon scans, not from Blizzard.
Read these as beta prices, not launch prices. This is a test: the beta level cap is lower than at launch, there is one beta realm, and testers spend differently than players will. Use the table to see which materials players are buying, not to plan what you will earn on November 4. The materials marked "not listed" had no auction in the newest scan.

Scans used:
- Alliance on Classic Beta PvE 2, scanned 2026-10-06 00:31 UTC
- Horde on Classic Beta PvE 2, scanned 2026-10-06 00:32 UTC
How to read it: the Alliance and Horde houses can price the same material very differently, so look at your own faction column. Pristine Leather and Frilled Lichen are also reported on a fixed price vendor (see What to save for), which caps what they can sell for.
Where to farm
Four zones, one per level band, chosen for the materials in the price table above. The material lists are where each one was common in original Classic. Forever keeps the old world, but Blizzard has already changed node counts in beta, so check as you go. The new Forever materials are not listed here because we have not confirmed where they gather yet.

Wetlands (levels 20 to 30)
Gather: Kingsblood, Bruiseweed, Tin Ore, Medium Hide, Wool Cloth.
Herbs, ore and Medium Hide in one zone, all in the 20 to 35 band of the price table.

Arathi Highlands (levels 30 to 40)
Gather: Goldthorn, Khadgar's Whisker, Iron Ore, Heavy Leather, Heavy Hide, Silk Cloth.
Two mid level herbs, Iron Ore and Heavy Leather in one zone, so a herb and mine loop also fills your bags with leather.

The Hinterlands (levels 40 to 50)
Gather: Purple Lotus, Mithril Ore, Thick Leather, Mageweave Cloth.
Purple Lotus and Mithril Ore in the same zone, for a herb and mine loop on a level 45 character.

Eastern Plaguelands (levels 53 to 60)
Gather: Mountain Silversage, Dreamfoil, Thorium Ore, Rugged Leather, Runecloth.
Thorium, Silversage, Dreamfoil and Runecloth in one zone. Burning Steppes is the other main Thorium zone.
Every Forever zone is on the zones page.
Professions for gold
Blizzard says Forever adds "over 600 new recipes across professions and level ranges", and that campfires use crafted profession objects to give buffs. [Blizzard, 2026-09-13]
| Profession | New recipes that make an item | All recipes that make an item |
|---|---|---|
| 239 | 482 | |
| 177 | 419 | |
| 164 | 405 | |
| 75 | 249 | |
| 70 | 182 | |
| 42 | 130 | |
| 36 | 60 | |
| 17 | 32 |
Counted from the beta client profession tables, build 1.60.1.70124. Ranks and enchants that do not create an item are left out, which is why Enchanting looks small.
Our advice:
- Two gathering professions while you level. Herbalism with Mining or Skinning costs little beyond trainer fees, and the price table shows raw materials selling on the beta. Skin your own kills: Blizzard changed creatures so they can only be skinned once before they disappear. [Blizzard blue post, 2026-10-01]
- Leatherworking, Blacksmithing and Tailoring got the most new items, so they are the crafts with the least known market. Early sellers set the price. Blizzard also made some Blacksmithing and Leatherworking recipes that were meant to be random dungeon drops available. [Blizzard blue post, 2026-10-01]
- Do not count on vendor flips. Blizzard closed the first one found in beta: crafted common and uncommon wands now sell to vendors for 1 copper. [Blizzard blue post, 2026-10-01]
- Legacy perks help gatherers. In the beta client, Bountiful Harvest doubles Scarce materials from Mining, Herbalism and Skinning, and Working Overtime speeds up profession leveling. See the Legacy Points guide.
Full recipe lists with reagents are on the Forever professions pages.
What to save gold for
- Riding. The cost moves into training and the mount comes free with the skill. [Blizzard, 2026-09-13] Blizzard has not said how much. Numbers going around the web come from unofficial datamining. In original Classic riding was the biggest gold cost for most players, so plan for it.
- The Black Market Auction House (reported from the beta). Madam Swyndle at Powderfuse Port in the Riverglades lists Tier 0 set pieces, pets, tabards and mounts. Reported starting bids: 100g for pets and tabards, 400g for Tier 0, 3,000g for Deathcharger's Reins. Items are bind on pickup. [Wowhead, 2026-09-27]
- Mister Graphed (reported from the beta), a vendor next to the Black Market. He sells Gift of Galloping, 10% faster mounted speed for 15 days, for 150g, and high end reagents at a fixed price. [PC Gamer, 2026-09-28] A fixed vendor price caps what those reagents can sell for on the auction house, so check his price before you farm or buy them. [Wowhead, 2026-09-27]
- Not gold: PvP gear. Blizzard raised Honor costs about 50% and the Honor cap to 25,000. [Blizzard blue post, 2026-10-01]
Launch week checklist
Our advice for November 4 (launch is 3:00 p.m. PDT, worldwide [Blizzard, 2026-09-12]):
- Pick your ruleset with the market in mind. Your auction house is everyone on that ruleset and faction, and you cannot move the character later.
- Take two gathering professions on your first character and sell raw materials in week one, while every crafter is leveling.
- List the new Forever materials early. They have no price history yet, so the first sellers set the price.
- Check the bind on equip rule before you vendor greens: an uncollected appearance binds when you sell it.
- Save for riding before you spend on anything at the Black Market.
- Never buy gold. Blizzard removes it and suspends the account.
Watch prices settle after launch on the Forever auction house page. We will recheck this guide against the live game after launch.
