Fourth War Skinning Techniques

Zero to Hero BFA Skinning Guide for Horde, but I expect its very similar for Alliance.

If you don't want to read all this, the Skinning Journal + wowhead tells you what to do pretty well, there are no gotchas.

0) Train BFA Skinning in BFA capital city, ask guard for trainer location ( Dazar'alor for Horde, Boralus for Ally). Train skinning and all skills the trainer has.

1) Get to 120 skinning. One option is to go to Tiragarde Sound, /way 75, 80. Skin the hounds here. You can stand in one spot, but you will have to wait for respawn. There might be better places. (Dream about how decent a gold farm this was in early/mid BFA)

2) Go back to skinning trainer, accept Lost But Not Forgotten, Ceremonial Vestments, and Hexoskeleton.

3) Do the quests, you should get some skinning points from skinning the alligators during one of these quests. Continue killing alligators and raptors in the area until you hit Skinning 150.

4) Go back to the trainer, hand in the quests, and accept all new quests they have. (Loa Fit for A King, A Thicker Thread)

5) Complete these 2 quests.

6) Hand in the 2 quests, you should now have two rank-3 skills and a rank-2 skill.

6.5) Before you leave, train BFA Fishing, too. I think it's possible it's needed to loot Chum for step 8, though I am not going to bother proving it.

7) Head to Nazjatar. If you've never been here you have to unlock the town. Then, find the "Profession Trainer" (Rolm, for Horde), and train Cragscale and Dredged Leather. To loot Chum for the next step, you also apparently need World Quests to be unlocked.

8) You need to kill the Rare "Vorkoth" next, it's not so simple as going to a location and one-shotting something, see the comments here: [npc=150468]#comments. You actually need to kill him twice, which will probably involve doing the summoning three times. Each time you kill him you will get one of the Nazjatar two-star patterns. This could take some time, don't expect to get past this step in one sitting. It is ok to kill him multiple times in one day, though. Learn both patterns.

9) Go kill stuff in Nazjatar and skin it, you will loot a quest item for Dredged Leather rank 3 and Cragscale rank 3 that will start a quest. Snapdragons in the SouthEast for Dredged Leather and water-dwellers in the northwest/northeast for scales.

10) Go back to Zuldazar and skin stuff until you get the Ancient Skinning Knife, which gives the quest for your final rank 3. Gorillas at 50, 54 in Zulda'zar is good.

For anyone needing the Skinning recipes off Vor'koth, first unlock World Quests in Nazjatar and then open Arcane Chests (invisible before you unlock the quests) in the zone until you get the Chum.
