My guild recently did all of the Guild Classic Raider achievements. We took 10 people to Molten Core, Blackwing Lair, and Temple of Ahn'Qiraj, and 8 people to Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj, and were able to clear all the achievements successfully.
You need at least 10 for the old 40 man raids. We tried MC with 8 and didn't get any guild achievement. We then tried 10 for BWL and got a guild achievement.
