We did it a bit differently, and it worked out very well (actually not that hard as an achievement, but it still got us server first).
Setup
- Three tanks
- Three healers
- Four DPS (two/three ranged, two/three melee)
Tactics
Start off at the Elder that heals himself with the lightbeams with the whole group.
Bring it down to about 10-15% then leave one tank, one healer (Holy Pally in our case) and one DPS behind (elemental shammy in our case that was responsible for healing himself so the pally could focus on the tank, it'll be needed). The DPS brings it down to 5% and keeps it at that (putting a DoT on and small DPS should do)The rest of the group moves to the Elder with spell lock and fists of stone, bring that one down to 15-20% and leave one tank, one healer and one DPS behind (warlock for us). DPS brings it down to 5% while the others are on the last elder.
The rest of the group moves to the Iron Roots guy and DPS like crazy, as soon as that one is pulled, you're on a time race. Everyone in the raid needs to watch out for Iron Roots. PVP trinket works btw. That's also why you leave one DPS with the each boss, they are responsible for getting themselves, the tank or the healer out of roots.
The last group needs to communicate properly. When they are at around 10%, the rest starts DPSing again, because the last group has one extra DPS to make up for that extra 5%.
Doing it this way avoids people having to watch out for all of the boss abilities at the same time by bringing them together and since we didn't split up right from the start, we didn't have to worry about Iron Roots, spell locks etc until the very end. Makes it just so much more controlled.
Things to watch out for:
- The first guy not only heals himself, but also puts a stack on himself that will determine the beating he'll put on the tank. Be ready with cooldowns, because he can one-shot tanks when the stack is high. That's also why it's better to have a hybrid DPS on the first one, he can take care of himself while the healer stays focused on the tank
- You need to keep communicating at all times, DBM won't put up health bars for all three and a focus isn't all too great either. Also with the Iron Roots going around, it's better to just speak up and let everyone else react.
- If for some reason the healer gets spell locked, he/she needs to speak up, so the tank can pop a cooldown. Also the tank on the Fists of Stone guy is better off having some slowing abilities, so he can outrun the boss at all times. It can be done without though
- If for some reason one of the DPS on the first two Elders is having trouble, you can send one of the DPS over from the last Elder to another one. Our DPS on the first Elder dc'd during the fight, the hunter from the last Elder ran over and it worked out fine.
Did it with two def warriors. Pulled the two minibosses that are far away from the entrance to the two tanks; brought them to ~5% and then pulled the last tree (the one with the tremor) and killed all.
