The Mechashredder 5000 is an ability you get if you chose the Lumber Yard (as opposed to the Sparring Arena) as your building at your base in Highpass, Goregrond. It is chosen through the quest We Need An Outpost. It is the Mechashredder 5000 that lets you cut the Hardened Thornvines and loot them.

If you initially chose the Sparring Arena, you got follower Pitfigher Vaandaam. If you now want the Mechashredder 5000, so that you can complete the achievement Shredder Maniac, you are stuck.

Unlike your base at Fort Wrynn in Talador, where you can pay [npc=79133] 5,000g in order to build a new structure, your base at Highpass is permanent.

The only workaround would be to:

• create a new character
• 
  
• group with a party leader who has a Mechashredder 5000, and let them cut the vines (and loot) before you

If you chose the Arena before, you CAN change to Lumber mill. But don't be a fool like me, running around for hours all over Gorgrond to find the NPC to change it. That goblin lady is sitting right in front of the arena in Beastwatch (Horde). Have 5000 gold ready, she knows you'll pay that much for one more achievement!
