Actually there is another timed hoop to jump through with the Living Steel x-mute cooldown IF you don't want to buy it. It does take exactly half the time, but oh what a joy Pandarian BS was. He's a quick rundown on the mats.

To obtain the plans you need to start working on this achievement, on a character with Pandaria blacksmithing, head on over to the Isle of Thunder and kill Itoka (/way 58, 34). Itoka drops an item called Strange Metal Ingot, which you turn in at the nearby Thunder Forge. Turning in this item will reward you with all six plans you need to complete this achievement. Start using your lightning steel ingot cooldown DAILY as you need to craft each of the items you just learned to learn the upgraded version of that recipe to complete this achievement :)

To craft them all you need 180 [item=94111], they are BoP and a Blacksmith can only make one a day. -> If you are doing this on a single char, it will take at least 180 days.

If your blacksmith can equip the weapons himself, be sure to equip the weapons once so you learn the look, before using them to craft the next level.

Weirdly you don't actually have to craft the last levels, so you if you are not interested in transmog this can be cut short.
