Blizzard reveals Talebound and Midnight content update plans at BlizzCon 2026

World of Warcraft

Blizzard's What's Next panel at BlizzCon 2026 covers Talebound, content update 12.1.5, the Eclipse update, and Season 3 details.

Blizzard presented the World of Warcraft: Midnight What's Next panel at BlizzCon 2026, with Lead Content Designer Jake Miller and Associate Game Director Paul Kubit covering the next chapter of Midnight, including content update 12.1.5, the Eclipse update, Season 3, and Housing.

Talebound arrives with the Echoes of the Worldcore content update as a new PvE action RPG game mode. Players are pulled into the tales of a mysterious Storyteller whose favorite stories lean toward the macabre, adventuring solo or with friends through themed levels with enemies, bosses, puzzles, treasure, relics, and rewards. Between runs, players return to the village of Quillgrave to work with the Arcanist, Scribe, Outfitter, and Antiquarian to prepare for the next attempt. Every class can double jump, dodge, and guard, and the game launches with the Slayer, Inquisitor, and Witch classes. Four stories will be available at launch: Darkhaven, Greenthistle Wood, Greywake's Expedition, and Grove of the Night Court. An early preview is planned on the PTR sometime in October.

Content update 12.1.5 is currently on the PTR and continues the story after the defeat of Ula'tek, sending players beneath that chamber into Kith'ix's prison. It includes the new story campaign The Promise of Tomorrow, the single-boss raid The Unbinding of Kith'ix, the expanded Labyrinths delve-like experience, the Aqir Invasion outdoor event, and the Ascendant Venomstones mid-Season 2 refresh.

Eclipse is the final major content update to Midnight, bringing the battle between the Light and Void to a head as players deliver a decisive blow to Xal'atath and her Devouring Host. It adds the Mantle Vault zone with new allies, the Thraegar, the Deepskar Empire world group, the Gearhold Lair featuring the azerite bat Noctinaxx, the 3-boss dungeon Thraegar's Stand as part of the Season 3 Mythic+ rotation, and the 8-boss raid The Worldcore, where players take a final stand against Xal'atath. For players, these updates bring new stories, dungeons, and raids, with Talebound offering cosmetic rewards for their Midnight account.
