Diablo V announced: Sanctuary has already fallen, coming spring 2029

Blizzard announced Diablo V at the BlizzCon 2026 opening ceremony with a new cinematic. The premise inverts the series: Sanctuary has already fallen, the heroes are gone, and Diablo has won. Blizzard dates the fall of Sanctuary to spring 2029.

For the first time the player is not fighting to stop Diablo from taking Sanctuary but entering a world he already holds. Blizzard says there are no towns and no safe havens, and framed the game around one question: what must you become when the world has already fallen?

No platforms, pricing or further gameplay detail were given during the ceremony. The announcement came at the end of a Diablo 30th anniversary segment that also covered Diablo IV's next season, the Amazon class and a Netflix animated series.
