BlizzCon 2026 · Day 1 · What's Next: World of Warcraft: Forever

Forever's toggles: opt-in transmog, switchable character models, the classic art style kept, plus Camping and Legacy explained

World of Warcraft

At the What's Next panel Blizzard said transmog in Forever is opt-in per player, character models are fully togglable, and the art style stays with enhanced effects. Camping is a new tradeskill profession with shared campsites, and the Legacy system rewards players who level multiple characters.

The What's Next panel answered the questions that split the Classic community. Transmog is in World of Warcraft: Forever, but it is opt-in: each player decides whether to enable it and see their own and other players' transmog, or keep it off and, in the panel's words, enjoy a world of clown suits. Updated character models are completely togglable too, and the opening ceremony had already confirmed a toggle between the original SD look and updated HD graphics.

Associate Production Director Clay Stone said the team considers Classic's art style timeless and is not changing it. The rendering work enhances existing effects instead: rolling rivers, more natural fog, moonlight breaking through trees. The same Azeroth, with immersive updates.

Two systems got their first description. Camping is a new profession built around tradeskills: players set up campsites in the world that others can join, and use their trade skills to buff each other and communicate. The Legacy system grants new perks to players who level multiple characters, because Blizzard calls the 1 to 60 journey the heart of Classic.
