Ion Hazzikostas announced Patch 12.2, titled Eclipse, as Midnight's next major content update at the BlizzCon 2026 opening ceremony. Xal'atath stands before her ultimate objective and players confront her directly. A new cinematic shows the Harbinger and her army massed before the World Core itself.
Hazzikostas framed the current Patch 12.1.5, the troll-themed interlude, as the setup for the endgame: the chase after Xal'atath has been a game of chess, and from here to the end of the World Soul Saga the pace is, in his words, all gas, no brakes.
Blizzard gave no release date for Eclipse during the ceremony. Holly Longdale opened the WoW segment by promising a strong year for Warcraft inside the World Soul Saga; the World of Warcraft: What's Next panel at 12:00 PM PT carries the detail.
