There was a time when 53.8 reigned supreme. This is a relic from those days. Considering the costs, one can make much better upgrades that it, these days. Stronghold Gauntlets http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=16741 and Lionhear Helm http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=16729 Have similar Arcanite costs, other mats are really inconsequential. In addition, particularly for Arms warriors, weapons such as Barbarous Blade (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=18520) or Darkstone Claymore (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=20669) will give you similar straight-up DPS plus the added benefit of Sword Specialization. Prior to patch 2.0, Polearms and Axes had separate specializations that both gave the same effect (1-5% crit). These were merged into Poleaxe Specialization as part of the Burning Crusade talent tree overhauls.

That was the triple crown for warriors back in the day. AR. Lionheart helm and stronghold. Normally you could pay way more in a crafting fee then the matts it cost to make because of the rarity of these patterns and who could use them.

Despite some considering this weapon "old and tired" it's still a classic along with it's distinctive graphic. When you walk by with your AR people KNOW you have one. It's a status symbol. Arcanite Reaper!!! HHHOOOO!!!

I have a 60 warrior alt. Got this awesome axe (like, over a year ago) and then the day after i got to join MC 'cos we lacked warriors and i got myself an obsidian edged blade. Those are 500g i wont see again ^^ Anyways, this axe is still cool, and i'm currently lvling a warrior to 59, he's gonna be a twink with this and some other stuff. Arcanite reaper is alive!

This wep was once a great thing to get and epic was it too now it is blue wich i mean is better for now one i know used the arcenite reaper for along time as it was a great wep now he just have it in his bank to remember those dayes where he used it to deal so much DOs out that was Pre TBC

To add to what Yuiopdude wrote: I really loved your idea of an upgraded Arcanite Reaper. It would really bring out the old retro-feeling of one of the greatest Warrior axes of all time, and at the same time give you a new and awsome version of the mentioned weapon. This is how I could imagine the upgraded Arcanite Reaper looked; the Eternium Reaper. I remember like yesterday how I tried to solo farm the pattern with my rogue pre-bc to earn some cash. http://www.wowhead.com/?item=5507 was big part of the whole thing to make the runs a lot faster. I did get the mob to spawn many times but sadly never got the pattern. Got frustrated eventually and stopped trying. It does get very repetitive and tedious but achieving things solo is one of the things in WoW I find very enjoyable.

I'd really love to see the AR with executioner or mongoose. Someone out there must have been crazy rich or just plain crazy to enchant with one of those enchants. Or pehaps even some 59 twinks? Please post your screenshots if you have used those enchants on a Arcanite Reaper! :D
