Chromatic Sword

Just gotta say. Worst. Weapon. Ever. "Oh hey, a mid-level resistance sword, might be kinda handy for ta-, wtfwhyisthisatwohander." Yeah...

Stat-wise it's garbage, but then, so are all resistance itemized gear pieces. But the current screenshot does it no justice at all, if someone would like to submit one with full particle effects, you can see how neat and shiny it is with it's four color glow. Apparently, this sword's glow was too OP and Blizzard had to nerf it. No glow can be more powerful than Executioner!

Because of the unique glow and it not beeing able to drop anymore its the most valuable Uncommen item in the game now, funny how items change over time :)

Stats are useless, but it has a nice speed for Warriors and Paladins.

It does have a use its use is for people to say how useless the item is

Slap a +7 weapon damage enchant on this baby and you'll have great luck.

This was from the Age of Resistances, which present at the same time as the Age of Chance on Hit

(course we still use resistances now, but we generally get it from hodir, KEB and AC rep, most gear used just has stats)

I don't know since wich patch, but this blade is real pretty, since it has blue, green, yellow, all kinds of glow enchants!

It is well known that basilisks have increased resistance to magic. Given the name "chromatic" (imo relates to chromatic drakes, which have the same ability), everyone would guess that this sword drops from either a basilisk or a chromatic(purple) drake. The sword also has a nice colorful glow to emphasize on the fact that is grants resistances to ALL schools of magic.

It has a fancy glow and that's what counts. It LOOKS pretty.

I would like to see some updated screenshots, to see if it still actually glows or is dull now

It's worth pointing out that glow is new (and I mean recently). I'd like to know how that went down. Dev #1: "So we've got this sword..." Dev #2: "Yes, the Chromatic Sword, it sucks." #1: "We could change its stats around, make it worthwhile." #2: "That sounds like a lot of work..." I think creating a multicolored glow like that would have been much harder than just swapping around a few stats...

got 1 for my retri-Pally. bit of an accident, really; it was the only reasonable priced sword on her level, so i bought it. just for levelling of the 2H sword skill, cause I too prefer a big 2h axe or better a 2H mace, ofcourse.

I remember this sword back before the awesome glow...it had a green and purple handle with a yellow hilt and a orange blade...im getting one now [u]just for the lawls[/u] ;)

yeah this used to have the coolest glow, and while it still has that glow, it is nowhere as strong. the glow is very dim now. :(

Anyone got a confirm/deny on this? Then again, even if it does still drop, I guess it's just not as fun any longer since the glow isn't as dramatic. So much for a cool transmog item.

This is incorrect. I just confirmed with a GM that the Chromatic Sword is still in the game. I suspect the reason we don't see this weapon more often is that a) there's not many of us actively looking for it and b) when it *does* drop for someone else, they probably think it's just some random green item and don't have any idea of its rarity. Oh, and c)... Scale Belly just really really really doesn't like having a sword about his person, it seems. :P Good luck! :)

This item only dropped from one mob in the game, and now that mob's level has been dropped, making it impossible for this to drop. A level 31 mob is not going to drop an ilvl 40 item. It just doesn't work like that.

OK, im done on farming this. As someone said before i doubt a lv 40 item ll drop from a lv 30 rare. Farmed it since 18/01/12 every 4~6 hours every day on 6 realms. Doubt it ll drop, and if someone do, please post it.

me and my friend are currently farming it on Caelestrasz, no drops so far over the last week. It is and awesome looking sword and would look boss on my warrior!

It pains me to see that there is a disenchant panel for this sword. Before cata it was rare and had one of the most amazing glows in game. Once finished, bank it don't disenchant it. Cata and onwards it's an incredibly rare sword with a unique look. Transmog/Sell for high prices don't disenchant it. Edit: Dropped 2 lesser nether essences.

After I found out about this sword from Mogit, I went ahead and tried to camp it, spent around 2 days before I checked comments here and realised it's most likely removed from the loot list. While I was camping it one showed up on the AH for a 35k buyout... which I let it go as I thought I could camp it myself... luckily the same one showed up again a few days after I found out about the likely removal and immediately grabbed it. Still couldn't decide which char to put it on though. Anyone know if weapon enchants show up on the model?

They don't, it overwrites them.

I would like to add if you are going to go for this sword(and alliance), the mob,[url=npc=1552]Scale Belly[/url], is phased out after you complete the quest,[url=quest=29100]Bwemba's Sprit[/url]. I went to farm this at Crystalvein Mine after I had accepted the quest and every mod had disappeared, after completion of the quest they did not return. The area was simply devoid of any life. Will update when my ticket is answered to see if this is working as intended.

I got that sword back in wrath of the lich king and I still have it but I dont know what to do with it.

I would try to sell it. Not for 35K as listed below, but it worked well for 2K for me several times alredy =) (Bladefist, EU, medium population)

I have been trying to farm this for weeks now. It is extremely rare (only 3 available US at the moment) with a unique model. You cant really put a price on this but its worth well above 2k

jesmondo : Thanks for feedback. After more research about this sword I decided to cancel the auction (whith a bid on it) as this sword seems to be more worthy nowadays. The potentional buyer went mad and created several new characters just for shouting at me as I decided to sell it for 10K instead of 2K ^^. Hopefully this information help to anyone who might consider selling it on AH.
