6 Heavy Silken ThreadBest place for farming is the western-most part of Tanaris where the scorpid mobs and everything 'reptilian', including the fossil mobs, will drop the scales. Just head over and kill whatever moves! You'll need the leather anyway. :)
If your higher level, just go in the back door to Uldaman, and clear to the 2 scorpion camps (Theres like 8-9 of them in each camp). kill em..skin em...go back out , reset instance and repeat. Youll get a ton of scales in minimal amounts of time.
