It's mainly for looks, it sells for a lot on the AH, especially on roleplay servers., I guess.
I farmed the Scarlet Bodyguard for a short while, before reading the comments on this page. I opened a ticket about this item before I wasted too much time...The ticket was answered as such, "After looking into your issue it appears the item is no longer available :-("
