These don't really have much of a purpose other than just grinding engineering skill. The only other thing I can think of would be for marking points of interest in a raid. As in the tank stands on the blue flare, have the boss on the red one, and everyone else on the white. That might be useful....
these aren't usable in main cities such as orgrimmar so if you wanna make some smoke plumes there, don't waste your time
These start yellow and turn green at skill 345. I made them until 350 and got decent skillup even from 345-350. Very cheap 15 skill points. As for what it does, just shoots smoke into the air.
