It might be obvious to most. But there is two parts of the cave. You walk down to read the glyphs to get clues, then go back up and click on the correct pedestals
Mine were Earth fire air water. I'm ashamed to admit I was lost for a bit here. Hope it helps!
The correct order is:
North: Fire
East: Air
South: Water
West: EarthNorth is behind the guardian, past the opening to the lower level.
***Also, once you align all 4 elements, you need to speak to the guardian and ask him if your order is correct.*** Then he comes to life, you kill him (aoe pulls any mobs that respawn below, just fyi), and then you can jump down and loot the chest.
