EDIT: Oh, and as for the drawing bit, Bliz has been very strongly hinting that Azerothian raptors are far from just simple beasts. They wear feathers and beads, steal things and some live in mud huts (a small settlement in the Barrens). When you add in that many raptors live near humanoids whom they could observe, it's not inconceivable that the race could begin to make some technological advances sometime in the near future. Probably not in WoW, there would be a lot of gameplay complications, but perhaps in a future game...?
Hmm thought inc. If 2000 players need 15 pieces of dino meat - a day. Then THAT is obviously why they are extingt.

Description
The venomhide hatchling looks at you expectantly, then begins to scrawl a pictogram into the dirt. The drawings are rough, but you can make out the shapes of diemetradons, stegodons, and pterrordaxes. As the raptor finishes the sketch, it looks up at you, bares its teeth, and makes a biting motion. Your venomhide hatchling must be craving fresh meat from these animals. Find and kill any type of diematradon, stegodon, or pterrordax in Un'Goro Crater and feed its meat to your hungry hatchling.
