More Feathers

I just completed raising my Lower City reputation on my Alt from Neutral 75/3000 to Honored 75/12000 thru the repeatable quest for [Arakkoa Feather] turn ins and wanted to share my experiences. To get the 9000 Lower City reputation you will need (non-human) 1080 [Arakkoa Feathers] for 36 total turn ins. The first turn in [The Outcast's Plight] you get 11,000 exp and a (3) gold, but you receive an [Outcast's Cache] and 250 Lower City rep for every one of the 36 turn ins. I did this becasue I did not want my alt to be foreced to run Instances like Shadow Labs as his only source of Lower City Rep like my main in order to get to Exaulted (for the Pally Shield/Mace). Doing this now will save you 4.5 full clears of SL later on.

I farmed 1080 Feathers with about a 35% (uncalculated) drop rate with my Main lv 70 Affliction Warlock. I was able to average 50 feathers for a 30 minute farming period (timed with my Fel Armor buff). This breakes down to an average of 10.5 hours of serious farming (affliction style). My highest gathering was closer to 60 but never fell below 40 in a 30 minute period. The following is the break down of my experiences.

Feathers Looted = 1080 (taking the 35% drop rate from wowhead)
------ Kills = 3100
310g ---- Raw Coin = (10silver average)
150g ---- Grey Drops (5%) 150 = (75 silver average)
250g ---- Green Drops (5%) 150 = DE'ed into 150 Arcane Dust & 18 Lesser Planar Essences & Vendored Weapons
100g ---- Netherweave Cloth 500 (25 stacks) = 5g / stack
100g ---- Rune cloth 500 (25 stacks) = 5g / stack

100g ---- Green Belts 36 = DE'ed into 50 Arcane Dust & 13 Lesser Planar Essence
150g ---- Blue Boots 6 = AH for 25-35 or DE for small Prismatic shards
36g ---- Scrolls 36 (one scroll per cache)
110g ---- Super Healing Potions 55 (yup 11 Stacks)

The gold estimates are on the low side and should be the minimum you can expect. I kept all the Enchanting Materials, Super Healing Potions, Scrolls, (2) Blue Boots, All BoE Green Weapons (to vend later rather then DE) and all Cloth (which I muled) for myself. Only really liquidating the Raw Coin and Grey Drops I ended up with nearly 500 gold. I received NO Blue of Purple drops as an FYI.

Oen thing to you will need to consider is that if you farm the [Arakkoa feathers] with your lv 70 Main you will not be able to take advantage of the exp, but you will cut your farming time down by a factor of 10 easily. My lv 65 Pally would NEVER be able to kill an average of 5 Talonguard per minute like my affliction warlock can. The Experiance you lose is equal to a full level being 3100 kills at an average of non-rested exp of 250 per kill which is equal to 775,000 Expereince.

Remember, every one of these numbers kept on the low side of estimation except for the Drop rate wich I placed at 35% from wowhead (34%). The 50 drops per 30 minutes is 100% accurate as is the 11 hours of farming and the 500g in my inventory from raw coin and vendor greys. Server prices are low averages as well where on my server Arcane Dust can sell for 1.50g to 2.0 gold and Runecloth 5g - 7g a stack. Since my Main is an Enchanter I need the Mats rather the the gold for them.

One point of intrest is I did most of my farming in the birdman camp SE of 'Bleeding Hollow' in TK Forest. The other camps were either too busy or to spread out. This camp is close to the vendor in the field of Bone for WHEN your inventory fills up. This camp is also nice and compact in a basic circle with 20 spawns. I was able to run the camp in a continous circle and pull the whole camp in 4 pulls. The intresting point is that there seems to be some 'forced' respawns here. It seems very much like there 'must' always be a certain number of Arakkoa spawns up. In many cases I would be running my cycle and the mob I just killed 3 seconds before respawns. I think this might have something to do with quests being associated to this camp. There was never a moment when I was able to 'clear' the camp. This are 20 spawns points and me pulling between 3 and 7 at a time I never didn't have a tarket.

If you start from 0/3000 with Lower City and are aiming to hit Honored by [item=25719] turn-ins alone, you'll need a total of 1080 feathers (990 for human characters).
