Low drop rate? its 32%. Thats pretty good. I've been grinding the Greater Spore Bats and Ironspike Basillisks at the top left of Zanga for a few hours now and I almost have enough spores to go to Revered. At the same time I'm getting Strange Spores to turn into Sporeling Snacks for my pet, and Chunk 'O Basillisk to turn into Blackened Basillisk spell damage food. Green drops out here are good too, plenty of vendor trash also. I should be Revered in another 2 hours.
As the new achivement system has been implemented it may be a good idea to complete this quest several times if you're an achivement hunter since the reward, besides reputation, is a Glowcap. The glowcaps can be used to buy the Tiny Sporebat and the Sporeggar Tabard which both are parts of different achivements. This will save you some time as you won't have to go mushroom hunting when you hit exalted.
Tiny Sporebat: 30 glowcaps
Sporeggar Tabard: 10 glowcaps
The total of 40 glowcaps = 40 turn ins = 240 Fertile Spores.
