The Splintered Throne is a raid (25) quest for level 30. It rewards 1 reputation reward, 5,150 experience and money.

Description

The Lich King's throne once served as his prison. Kil'jaeden himself crafted the vessel of icy crystals from the twisting nether, its sole purpose to hold Ner'zhul's vengeful spirit.

When Arthas struck the crystal with Frostmourne, he released Ner'zhul's soul, allowing it to merge with his own. Splinters from that impact are now scattered throughout the citadel.

I shall require those shards, held only by the Lich King's most powerful servants, to seal the power contained in your blade.

I can confirm that you do not need shadows edge equipped to get the shards to drop. So feel free to use your OP weapons to down bosses faster.

How about we just smack the frozen throne with shadow's edge and see if it breaks off a few shards? :D

tmptfate's comment reminded me of: "I really wanted that staff, I wanted it bad. I farmed for it for over 3 months; running Scholomance over 200 times, 5 times a day, for over 3 months... and that was back before the nerf the scholomance, when an average run took 3 hours. I saw countless others classes get the items they came for, but that damn staff never dropped." Downrated by the non-vanilla WoW players, that have no clue what this reference is to. Edited for non-leet grammar/spelling.
