The Spoils of War (Alliance)

The Spoils of War is an Alliance-only quest for level 15-30 in Burning Steppes. It is step 81 of 82 in the Burning Steppes storyline. The quest's turn-in marker is in Burning Steppes at 73.7, 67.3. It rewards 6 reward items and 525 experience. Completing it counts toward 1 achievement.

Description

We've toppled a giant today, <name>. While the Blackrock orcs still swarm in their spire, I doubt their plans will take them anywhere near Redridge anytime soon. You and Keeshan saw to that.

I'd say we were fairly resourceful here in Burning Steppes - those warlock supplies we collected certainly came in handy, as did the obsidian ash that we used to conceal our dragon.

There were, however, some collected items left over. Please, take your pick before you move on, beyond the steppes.

Rewards

Guide to Burning Steppes quests:

Optional breadcrumbs:
Hero's Call: Burning Steppes or Mouton Flamestar

Do anytime before leaving to Chiselgrip:
Done Nothing Wrong

Keeshan is back with either:
Burning Vengeance if you did the Redridge chain or Burning Vengeance if you did not.

These three at once:
Stocking Up
A Future Project
Mud Hunter

Then:
The Sand, the Cider, and the Orb

These two at once: Warlocks Have the Neatest Stuff and Shadow Boxing

Then:
Return to Keeshan
Chiselgrip, the Heart of the Steppes

Enables these quests, which must be completed before General Thor'izog in the main chain:
Prove Yer Allegiance
Scrapped Golems (leads to Golem Training)

Main chain continues:
A Needle in a Hellhole
A Perfect Costume (4 versions) Read the quest carefully. What creature disguise do you need?
---> Orc (given to Humans and Dwarves): 2 Hides, 4 muds, 2 thread
---> Goblin (given to Gnomes): 1 hide, 3 mud, 4 thread
---> Troll (given to Night Elves): 3 Hides, 2 mud, 1 thread
---> Ogre (given to Draenei and Worgen): 4 Hide, 1 Mud, 3 thread

Then:
Into the Black Tooth Hovel
Grunt Work
Look in your quest log -- Strategic Cuts has silently appeared
The Kodocaller's Horn
Taking the Horn for Ourselves
Until Blizzard fixes it, when you turn in this quest, you will get a failed quest sound
with "You don't meet the requirements for that quest". Don't panic.

You must by this time have finished Stebben's quests, listed above.
General Thorg'izog
Trial by Magma
I Am the Law and I am the Lash [I think this completing this one is optional]
When you accept the above, look for Abuse of Power in your quest log

Then:
Enough Damage for One Day
Morgan's Vigil

Completing that quest allows for these four together:
SEVEN! YUP! [rewards Tiny Flamefly]
Blackened Ashes
A Heap of Delicious Worg
Latent Demons of the Land

Then these three together:
Blood Tour
Draconic Vanguard
A Deal with a Dragon

Given when third one above is completed: Placing the Pawns

Then these three:
A Delivery for Thorg'izog
A Delivery for Neeralak
A Delivery for Zi'lun

Auto-accepted when above three are done:
Locked and Loaded

And the epic conclusion:
Assault on Dreadmaul Rock
Glory Amidst Chaos
The Spoils of War

Again, another needlessly lengthy quest chain to get a gear item that will be of no use by the time you finish the quest chain to get it. I actually turned my XP off to do this chain to get the mail belt, and only because I was wearing a leather one, with better stats than any mail belt previous to this one. Around midway, I started thinking.. what the hell am I doing? I could have xp on, skip this entire chain, and be level 57-58 and using BC items that I can get for nearly nothing from the AH.

Of course, around 60% through I just got plain stubborn and bullheaded and set my mind to get this damn belt even if it took another 3 days. (playing off and on, as I have a number of other alts to play which take priority over this hunter i am on now).

I admit, I am a bit OCD, like when it comes to chasing prof patterns.. but I gave up chasing lore master after LK came out and all the zones I had finished reset.. and I have no intention of starting over on level 1 quests at level 90. lol.

BTW.. an important note here.. don't log out while wearing the disguise if you are in the caves surrounded by ogres.. it drops off when you log in.
