Crafting estimate at current listings
At current lowest listed prices one craft shows an estimated profit of 1 gold7 silver, but the crafted item’s listing is far from its 30-day median (see below).
- Reagent cost (lowest listed)
- 1 gold10 silver
- Crafted item, lowest listed price
- 2 gold29 silver
- Auction House cut (5%)
- 11 silver45 copper
- Estimated profit at that listed price
- 1 gold7 silver (+98%)
- Evidence: 7 current listings holding 266 units of the crafted item in the US region. We see listings, not sales, so how many sell and at what price is unknown.
- Outlier: the crafted item’s lowest listing is 11 times its 30-day median of 20 silver, so this estimate rests on a listing far above its usual level.

Where the reagents come from
Silver Mackerel. No recipe, Blizzard quest reward or dungeon journal drop in our game data produces it. Also a required reagent in 2 other recipes (2 Cooking); Dried Mackerel Strips takes the most, 5 per craft.

Reading these numbers
At current lowest listed prices the 1 reagent for one craft of Silvery Salve cost 1 gold10 silver.
Break-even is 1 gold15 silver - below that listed price the craft loses gold once Blizzard’s 5% cut is taken. The crafted item’s lowest listed price is 2 gold29 silver, which clears it.
At that listed price the gross margin before fees is 1 gold19 silver; the Auction House would keep 11 silver45 copper of a sale, leaving 1 gold7 silver. That is an estimated 97.8% return on the gold you put into reagents, after the cut has taken 9.6% of the gross.
Listing depth right now: 266 units across 7 auctions region-wide. Depth separates a market price from a single asking figure, but listings are not sales, so read it alongside the estimate.
Costs use each reagent’s lowest listed price; the estimate is the crafted item’s lowest listed price, times the items one craft makes, minus those reagents and Blizzard’s 5% sale cut. Listings are asking prices, not sales. Recalculated every snapshot and left blank rather than guessed when a price is missing. How we estimate crafting profit →
