An interesting note is that if you cast this on a player just before he jumps a long height into a body of water, instead of falling through the water, he will take falling damage, usually killing him. A devious way to kill allied players who are annoying you, or you can get a priest to mind control someone then throw them off a bridge. Interesting use of the buff, if not very often available.
Be wary grouping with shamans around long falls.

Water walking used to not be canceled by damage during beta. This was later changed due to shamans having quite a lot of 'naval superiority' when battling other classes near bodies of water such as Booty Bay.
Currently Water Walking is useful for swift travel over large areas of water but its best aspect is being able to use it to drink and eat while on water, which is otherwise not available unless you are on land.
You can now Water Walk with your mount up, deathknights are no longer snowflakes.
Tooltip
Allows the friendly target to walk across water for 10 min. Damage will cancel the effect.
