Where to Farm This Set
5 bosses in Baradin Hold and Dragon Soul drop pieces of this set. Each instance below carries its Adventure Guide entry, where its entrance is, and what each boss drops.
Following the Second War, the ruined fortress of Baradin Hold on the remote island of Tol Barad was converted into a prison for some of the most dangerous forces on Azeroth. Yet with the devastation wrought by the Cataclysm, the prison's integrity has been compromised. Now as the Horde and Alliance vie for supremacy on the island, the liberation of its forgotten horrors may be at hand.
The entrance is in Tol Barad at 47.7, 53.1 (/way #244 47.7 53.1).
Baradin Hold entrance
Alizabal, Mistress of Hate drops 4 pieces of this set (Hands, Legs). Adventure Guide map pin: 47.9, 18.0 on the Baradin Hold map. The Kirin Tor imprisoned Alizabal in their formidable Violet Hold not long after corrupt magi summoned the shivarra into Azeroth. Despite arcane wards restricting her powers, the demon's malicious influence alone caused her guards to murder one another in sudden fits of rage. Her transfer to Baradin Hold prior to the Cataclysm has only aggravated the ruined prison's increasingly dire conditions.
Forged by Deathwing during the War of the Ancients, the Dragon Soul harnessed the combined power of the dragonflights until it was ultimately destroyed. Through the Caverns of Time, Thrall and the remaining dragonflights were able to recover the powerful artifact before its destruction. Now they have rallied at Wyrmrest Temple in a desperate attempt to use the might of the Dragon Soul against Deathwing himself.
The entrance is in Caverns of Time at 31.5, 41.5 (/way #74 31.5 41.5).
Dragon Soul entrance
Morchok drops 1 piece of this set (Wrist) on Normal, Heroic, 10 Player and 25 Player. Adventure Guide map pin: 50.4, 69.3 on the Dragon Soul map. The most powerful elemental still under Deathwing's sway, Morchok-once a passive guardian-is now convinced that his only respite will come with Azeroth's demise. Morchok rages against the foundation of Wyrmrest Temple, Azeroth's last beacon of hope in the Hour of Twilight.
Warlord Zon'ozz drops 1 piece of this set (Feet) on Normal, Heroic, 10 Player and 25 Player. Adventure Guide map pin: 51.0, 53.0 on the Dragon Soul map. Countless ages ago, Warlord Zon'ozz and his soldiers waged endless war against the forces of C'Thun and Yogg-Saron. Millennia have passed, but the warlord still serves the chaotic might of the Old God N'Zoth. Deathwing has now unleashed this legendary faceless one to crush the defenders of Wyrmrest Temple.
Hagara the Stormbinder drops 1 piece of this set (Waist) on Normal, Heroic, 10 Player and 25 Player. Adventure Guide map pin: 52.8, 52.0 on the Dragon Soul map. Hagara, one of the first students of arcane magic under the Forsaken, showed surprising potential for one who had started learning so late in life. But in her undisciplined attempts to bind elementals into servitude, she was ensnared and twisted by the Windlord, Al'Akir. Now fiercely loyal to the Twilight's Hammer, Hagara binds others for her elemental masters to torment.
Spine of Deathwing drops 1 piece of this set (Shoulder) on Normal, Heroic, 10 Player and 25 Player. Adventure Guide map pin: 33.2, 85.3 on the Dragon Soul map. When Deathwing first channeled the Dragon Soul's power against the other flights, the massive energies that were unleashed threatened to break apart his very body. Rather than forgo this weapon, he had adamantium plates fused to his scales to hold his body together. Later reinforced with elementium, these plates are now his weakness--the sole vulnerability to Deathwing's lethal presence.
Set Bonus
5 pieces of this appearance set also belong to the item set Necrotic Boneplate Armor, which carries these bonuses in the game files:
2 pieces: When an attack drops your health below 35%, one of your Blood Runes will immediately activate and convert into a Death Rune for the next. This effect cannot occur more than once every 45 sec.
4 pieces: Your Vampiric Blood ability also affects all party and raid members for 50% of the effect it has on you.
Versions and Companion Sets
16 companion sets shipped in the Dragon Soul group alongside it:
Draugr, Girdle of the Everlasting King: Legend holds that the bodies of the titanspawn are so saturated with the energy of the creators that they leave behind fragments when the mortal host dies. This girdle is said to have been painstakingly sewn together from those fragments.
5 pieces of Necrotic Boneplate Armor can be listed on the Auction House (they do not bind on pickup); 5 have a listing on US connected realms in our latest scan.
Lowest listed price on any US connected realm in our recorded Auction House scan, per piece; transmog gear is priced per realm, so the realm named is where that price was seen.
The game data carries 3 separate set records under the name Necrotic Boneplate Armor - one per class or armor weight, plus the per-slot recolours the appearance was built from. This page is the one we index for the name; the others are listed here so nothing is lost.
