Mount Parade

o.k. So I thought I'd post this as it may be helpful to others.. I went to the armory to do a comparison between my Horde main and my Alliance main to see what mounts I was missing.. Begin a game plan to getting this achieve. First thing I noticed was that I'd never gotten the two Worgen faction mounts.. So, I made a Worgen dk; ground through the quest chain to get it out of the starting area; and went off to purchase the two mounts.

Lo and behold, no change in the running total of mounts towards the achieve. I was still stuck at 171. So, I put in a ticket. Here's the gist of the explanation. And in retrospect, it makes perfect sense:

Faction mounts cancel each other out between Horde and Alliance as far as mount achieves are concerned. i.e. Since I already had the two Goblin mounts, getting the Worgen mounts did not count as extra mounts towards the achievement.

My next step was a long, slow grind of Argent Tournament for those more expensive mounts (100 Champion's Seals), etc.. So I asked the GM about that. He/she confirmed that these also, as far as mount achievements are concerned, count in the same way. So I only need to focus on one side or the other (Horde, or Alliance). Purchasing mounts from both sides will be a waste of time for the achievement.

I hope this posting will save a few of you from wasting precious time on mounts you're only grinding specifically for the achievement.

Another Dragonhawk..... WTF.

There are tons of awesome unused mount models, WHY another dragonhawk?

I'm hoping someone does a breakdown of what it takes to get this achieve. It looks like this will be hard to get "retroactively". By that I mean, if you didn't get some of the achievement and raid mounts when they were current content it is going to be hard to get them now.

I'm at 169 mounts. I can get another 13 fairly easily (mostly Argent Tournament mounts), plus there are still a couple I could buy from the store.That would make 185 mounts. I'm not interested in buying mounts from the AH or TGC mounts, so after that I'd have to farm about 15 very low drop rate mounts, many of them in raids that don't get much action anymore. My experience farming Reins of the Raven Lord and Rivendare's Deathcharger make me doubtful that I would ever get all 15.

Anyway, here's some good advice from Beefstew as posted on the Mountain o' Mounts page:

Follow these instructions. This is what I did:

2. Look up your character on battle.net (armory). On the main page of your character
3. 
   
4. Click Companions & Mounts (it's a link to the left side of the screen under Summary). You will now see 2 tabs (Companions, Mounts).
5. 
   
6. Click on Mounts
7. 
   
8. Click Not Collected
9. 
   
10. Then to the right side of the screen under the Filters... field,
11. 
    
12. Click Show Advanced Filters.
13. 
    
14. Select Vendor, Quest, Faction
15. 
    

When I did this I noticed that I had not bought any of the Blood Elf Mounts (7 of them) even though I thought I did.

So with this tool you can easily see what you have and what you are missing and then go about getting your 100 mounts! Also use this tool for getting you pets. BAM!
